One Mic

The orginal work of poet and radio host Kimberly Sherrelle

Kimberly Sherrelle Is I

Coming to the mic

Is poet Kimberly Sherrelle

And in the distant back

I hear someone snicker and say

What? Is that her government name?

I smile and say, yes part of it is

But all of it is me

You see when I was born the

Heavens smiled and God said

Name her Kimberly

So why would I drop it as

I strive for the top

Changing my name wouldn’t

Make me anymore of a poet

Than owning a ball would make

You a player

Kimberly Sherrelle is I

And I am the truth

And the truth will set you free

So you should definitely

Come with me

Kimberly Sherrelle is I

I am proud of the me you see

If by the end of this poem

You have questions

About who this person is

Who stands before me

Well may I suggest

You Google Me

 I Hate You!!

I hate you!

I hate your gorgeous smile

I hate it when you smile at me like that!

I hate the way you laugh and tell jokes

I hate that when you’re tickled you snort!

I hate your muscular body and handsome face

I hate your soft kisses and warm embrace

I hate the way you make me laugh

I hate it more when you make me cry

I hate the way we make love

I hate the way you look at me

I hate how well you know me

I hate that you always know where it hurts

I hate the way you look at me so sure of yourself

I hate the way you sleep and share your cover with me

I hate that after all this you are still my bestfriend

I hate that I sometime need you

I hate that you never need me

I hate that I love you

I hate that you love her

I hate that I don’t hate you

Not even a little bit

Not even at all
