May 9, 2010
There are so many books out there that say black women are alone because of some learned flaw.  I want to hear from you.  Tell me, why are you alone?

From a Lump of Coal

Without Pressure a Diamond Will Forever
Remain a
Piece of Coal

Pressure can come into our lives in many forms. However most often pressure comes in the form of stress.  We stress about our finances. We stress about our children.  We stress about our job, and about our significant other.  Some of us even stress about being stressed.  Too often we allow the pressures of living to imprison us.  Why?  Why do you stress about things?  Why do you circum to the pressures of life?  When has stres...

Sylvester

April 27, 2010

Sylvester

I come from a town with

6 traffic lights and a train

My thick thighs

Round backside

Dark brown eyes

Get me smiles in this town

6 traffic lights and a train

Too often on my brain

Is all the pain

Days of bumble bees

Water hoses and dogs

From these trees

My people use to hang

Its wild right

6 traffic lights and a train

Fourteen years later

Still crying for Pam, Robert, and Mayo

Gone too soon

Too soon forgotten

In my mind class of 99 will forever live on

Cotton fie...

If It Is Not You

April 24, 2010

Sitting here cold and alone

Thinking of the loves that came before you

Wondering if this is really the end or

Will others follow you

These feelings I have I can no longer keep inside

Stewing while the outside dies

My tears at night you pretend no see

The sounds of my heart breaking

Echo between the sheets

But your attention I still seek

Though my love for you is different

My feelings of inadequacies are same

Talking to you gets me no ...

Orange Juice and Lemonade

April 16, 2010

While sitting at my desk observing the chaos I call a job, I had this thought, “You cannot make orange juice if all you have are lemons.”  As soon as I had the thought I realized the magnitude of it all.  This is where I am going to head this week.  The thought for the week is……

“You cannot make orange juice if all you have are lemons”

First let’s discuss “orange juice”.  Orange juice is really good for the human body.  It is a great source for Thiamin, Potassium, Vitamin ...

Tiger Woods

Tiger Woods: Is Drama your middle name?

On November 27, 2009, Eldrick "Tiger" Woods crashed his vehicle outside his home in Florida.  In most situations a car crash simply means you have to make a call to 911 as well as a call to your insurance company.  However for Tiger Woods, a car crash begin a sequence of unfortunate events.  The car crash sparked a eruption that has since led to Tiger Woods loosing endorsements, respect of the general public, and possibly his family.

Tiger's numerous affa...

Meeting Dr. Cornel West

December 14, 2009
On October 29, 2009 I had the pleasure of meeting te great, Dr. Cornel West.  Let me first start by saying that men of genius truly stimulate me in ways new shoes cannot compare.

Dr. West spoke candidly on various topics such as President Obama, Spike Lee, and himself.  I found myself on the edge of my seat the entire time, hanging on to his every word.  Anticipating the next great thing he would say.  It was truly a religious experience for me to say the least.

At the end of his speech, Dr. ...

Thought for the Weekend

October 9, 2009
Thought for the weekend.....Life is about two things...Forgiveness and Love

This weekend I want you to think about this....when was the last time you forgave yourself?  Quite often we forgive others but how often do we forgive ourselves?  Forgiveness of self is a powerful thing.  And to truly love yourself and others it is necessary.  Mistakes are made in life...how often do you forgive yourself for those mistakes?  I'm sure not as often as you should.  Mistakes allow us to learn, so why stay ...

The T.O. Show - The Unofficial Aftershow

The Unofficial Aftershow to The T.O. Show

Real Talk strikes again!

The Unofficial Aftershow to The T.O. Show

Last night I risked my IQ and watched the first episode of T.O. new reality TV show.

First of all let me start by saying that the first episode was not what I was expecting.  Some true insight was given about the flamboyant athlete.  He seems to have a genuine love for the game and seemingly heartbroken over being released by the Dallas Cowboys.  This was evident through the written o...

The T.O. Show - Are you serious?

July 23, 2009

Real Talk!

Let's talk about Terrell Owens aka T.O.

I would have to say I felt outraged when I first saw the previews for the T.O. Show.  Like what the hay!?  Are you serious?!  That's all I can say, are you serious right now?  I am so sick of ignorant behavior being rewarded with a television show!  First it was Flava Flav, the I Love New York, and now The T.O. Show.  Are you serious right now?  Terrell Owens is one of the ignorant black men the media loves to interview because they know he wil...
